Sometimes eating more at night is perfectly normal. But, if it feels out of control or like where your nutrition derails every night, something might be off. ⁣
⁣
Reasons for nighttime eating may include:⁣
⁣
1) Undereating during the day (often we don’t even realize it’s happening)⁣
⁣
2) Nutrition Imbalances, such as not eating enough protein, fiber, fat or carbohydrates. Sometimes deficiencies in micronutrients can increase the drive to keep eating too!⁣
⁣
3) Food is a source of stimulation because eating releases dopamine (it feels GOOD!), so we want to keep doing it.⁣
⁣
4) Using food to numb emotions. Emotional overwhelm is common for people with ADHD, and eating is one way to cope and reduce the intensity of those feelings.⁣

I honestly think the term “heal your gut” is often really misleading because gut health isn’t static—it’s constantly evolving. ⁣

Here’s my story 💖
⁣
At the time of my first test I was having classic IBS (bloat, pain, food sensitivities) as well as fatigue, brain fog, and ADHD. ⁣
⁣
Over the last two years all of that has gone away.

I’m human so sometimes I’m tired or my stomach doesn’t feel great, but it’s not a daily thing. ⁣
⁣
I did do one round of anti microbial herbs (not mentioned above) and I don’t get into it because that was specific to me. It also isn’t what made the biggest difference. ⁣

What moved the needle for me:⁣

The connection is strong and often overlooked.

PMDD can be debilitating and my patients tend to want more options than just birth control & meds.

We don’t know exactly what causes PMDD but it seems to be due to increased sensitivity to hormone changes.

That doesn’t explain why some cycles are horrible and some are really mild.

One factor that could be at play is neuroinflammation, or inflammation of the brain and nervous system.

Neuroinflammation is correlated with ADHD, ASD, and PMDD.
